Denouncing the attack on Union agriculture minister Sharad Pawar, Anna Hazare today said there was no place for violence in a democracy.He, however, asked the government to take appropriate measures to keep public anger under check. “There is no place for violence in democracy. I condemn the attack,” Hazare told reporters here.

Google unveiled its much-anticipated digital music store, opening a new front in its battle with Apple to provide services over mobile devices. For the first time, Google Inc. will sell songs on the Android Market, its online store for apps, movies and books. The service is available over the next few days to customers in the U.S., but it aims to roll it out eventually to some 200 million Android users globally.

Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Saturday said the two most vexed issues facing the nation are price rise in essential commodities and petro-products.It is not possible for the Centre to decrease the price of petro-products because huge subsidies are already being given to the oil companies for sale of fuel at controlled rates, Mr. Mukherjee told a Congress seminar here.
